Is cloudfiles another service? Do they run nextcloud or owncloud (or something that works with nextcloud)? Also, link to the service you are talking about.

yes they run nextcloud (https://kmu.files.cnow.at/login)

What steps did you take to share the file?

To share files with users on different instance you have to type the full federated id, something like <username>@cloud.disroot.org

Goto settings and click on sharing to see your federated id.
