Solution To Email Abuse, 7th Sep 2018 [Solved]

Today I saw that Disroot’s email registry was closed because users were abuse the system for malicious purposes. My solution idea: Users have to open a support ticket saying that want to create an email with Disroot (and maybe asking why they want to?). I’ve seen other email providers use this method and I believe it deterrents others abusing this wonderful service (I won’t link the other email provider out of respect for Disroot)

Also, I haven’t ever been here to Disroot, so I’m not familiar to the community or style :stuck_out_tongue:

https://disroot.org/en/contact checking website usually provides most of the needed information.

Does Disroot developers check forums? (I ask because I’m not sure whether this forum is for moderators/community-members or including developers). If not I’ll use your link muppeth to send them this post.

Also I’m curios if anyone else has ideas. The support tickets might deterrents potential honest users away as well as the abusive users.

I’m a disroot admin, so yes we do check forum, as you can see i’m pretty active here as well. But i think community as a whole is more spread around other platforms linked on the contact page.

As for the issue,we have decided to take it easy this weekend though we had full hands of work with matrix server the last days anyway so not that chilled as we thought. We are planning to start working on facilitating a way to find a solution, and we want to include all suggestions pouring in from the community.

We do have a strong opinion against invite only model, which we plan to make a seperate write up about as this gets mentioned many times.

Just checking in, what is the status of the email abuse solution?

Currently apart from lots of thinking and talking with people about it, nothing much has changed. This week we’ve been busy with other non-disroot and disroot related things. However we’ve created a designated forum thread for this issue where we hopfully going to post first summary this weekend:
